Health Regulations:

 

 

 

Animals showing evidence of contagious, infectious or external parasitic diseases will not be permitted entrance into the show or housing facilities.

 

 The base date for computing health rules will be March 15, 2008. Animals will not be admitted into the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex facilities without the necessary health certification.

 

             1. All cattle must be accompanied by a certificate of veterinary inspection certifying the animals to be

              free of contagious and infectious disease.

 

           2. Tuberculosis and Brucellosis testing is not required of Pennsylvania origin animals.

           3. Out of state origin animals must meet current Pennsylvania entrance requirements. For 2008,

            these include:

            a. Tuberculosis – animals must originate from a Free state or an TB accredited herd. All other animals over 15 months of age must be negative to an official tuberculin test within 60 days of the show.

            b. Brucellosis – animals must originate from a Free state and a Brucellosis certified free herd. Animals not meeting this requirement must be test negative within 30 days of the show. Vaccinated heifers less than 14 months of age and steers are exempt from the test requirement.

      4. Shipping Fever Complex.          

 

                    All cattle shall be vaccinated in the current show year against the respiratory complex

                    (shipping fever, including IBR & BVD), not less than 20 days prior to the show, but within the

                    past 6 months. The use of antiserums will not be accepted. Any USDA approved agents used

                    for active immunization will be accepted. All immunizations specifying the biologic products

                    used, date of administration and complete identification of the animal must appear on the

                    certificate of veterinary inspection.
